  • A handicrafts campaign for Sept (with a focus to additionally fundraise for Afghanistan families relocating in the area & possibly a Syrian student)

Updates

  • Welcome to a few new people:

    • Helena Rampe (she set up the Black Lives Matter march in Tunbridge Wells (and it’s subsequent vigil) last summer; she’s currently a student but looking to help with future programmes - on as and when available basis)

    • Angie Solanky (will be in the office on Tuesday mornings to help with things as and where needed most)

    • Vanya Chung from Taiwan is working towards a placement with us for 2 months in January - early March. She’s been part of refugee simulations in Taiwan and has a heart for refugee work where she is looking to the future to work full time in this area.
We may need help for her boarding in West Kent during this time - do you know anyone who might be able to help? If so, please contact Ben

  • We have ordered and received 500 more Syrian made bracelets. Due to changes of circumstances in Istanbul our partners need to raise to the price to keep it fair. As a result from September we will charge £4 for the bracelets.

  • We’re on LinkedIN!… please give us a follow or a shout out as we look to improve our digital marketing (esp with The High Life) https://www.linkedin.com/company/empathyaction

    • and if you haven’t seen us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram… please follow or like us or share. Thank you and we’d appreciate the digital assistance to help our reach.

A partnership that started in 2016 at the World Humanitarian Summit has led to the help of displaced Syrian women in Istanbul. As they cannot earn proper money (their status prevents them from full time employment) are able to make a bit on the side through these bracelets with our partners Small Projects Istanbul. The money is very helpful for their kids education (school books, uniforms and stationery) and a small way to help a displaced community. Our partner has said our partnership with them is incredible for these ladies - it gives worth and purpose… they share the bonding that goes on between the women is why they like to run these bracelet-making sessions.
