Build a Longer Table this Christmas

“When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.”

This is the saying at the heart of our 2019 Christmas Campaign. It may feel familiar – we used it last year! – but its resonance in the turbulent times in which we live has not changed. In fact, the need to build longer tables, to find empathy and common ground, seems even more relevant, even more important. In an ever changing world, our smallest actions can have a wonderful impact.

With this in mind, we invite people to buy our ‘gifts that give twice’ – handicrafts made by marginalised people who have compelling stories to tell. Crafting these gifts gives each maker a voice and a sense of purpose, while generating much-needed funds for them to escape poverty and extreme circumstances.  They can give the maker a place at our tables and the ability to share his or her unique story.

Choosing empathy takes courage, but each and every small or large act of compassion that we make, builds hope for those who need it most.

Will you be a #tablebuilder this Christmas?

Over the next week we will be sharing some of our table builders with you…
