Running for Team Empathy

Team Empathy at the Brighton Half Marathon

They trained. They fundraised, They ran over 13 miles. Thank you ‘Team Empathy’.

On the 26th February, 11 runners started and completed the Brighton Half Marathon raising over £5k for our work to increase empathy and compassionate action across our planet, one community group at a time.

One runner, Rich Nurden, even came back to volunteer with us. Rich & his wife, Alice, ran as a team and he was also able to use his employer’s generous match giving scheme to treble his donations. We asked Rich a few questions about his experience:

Q. What was the most satisfying moment?

Seeing all the people out to support us, especially spotting other runners in Empathy Action t shirts.

Q. What feeling did you have at the finish line?

Relief that I can stop running! … and real joy at seeing Alice there knowing that we had both made it!

Q. Overall, how do you feel now you have done it?

I feel a real sense of accomplishment that the hours of training paid off, both completing the race and quicker than our target time. I also feel really pleased that this accomplishment has also made a difference to a small charity that relies on donations to operate and that I could take advantage of my employers generous donation matching service

Here are a few photos from the social media build up campaign. On behalf of Empathy Action, thank you to all our runners, fundraisers (a few couldn’t run on the day and have pledged to do other events) and donors.

If you are interested in running for Empathy Action please get in touch as we’d love you on the team.
