tEAm news #85 | 20.7.22

It’s the last tEAm News before the autumn restart. Thanks for being there and here’s a short message from Ben.

Have a great summer… see you in Sept!

  • MOMENT OF PRAYER - on pause until 5th Sept

  • 20th Aug: Fly a Kite in solidarity with Afghanistan (details here)

    AUTUMN DATES
(a big team needed to run multiple events!)

  • THROUGHOUT SEPT: Peace Day (21st) campaign: watch this space!

  • 7th Sept: fortnightly tEAm News starts again

  • 21st Sept: Peace Day team get together (office) - more to come!

  • 12-17th Oct: The Poverty Trap (TPT) in Tunbridge Wells

  • 2-7th Nov: Desperate Journeys (DJ) in Tunbridge Wells

  • Late November (tbc): TPT Headington School, Oxford (c 12 people needed)

Here’s 3 ways you can help us this fortnight…

  1. QUICK RESPONSE NEEDED! You free to attend this workshop on Climate for EA (in London tomorrow afternoon)? - if so, email Sandy

  2. Simulation Help: Can you help for running the Autumn sims in Tunbridge Wells as cast or crew (prep, hospitality, set up/down, being on a stall) - let us know your availability at the earliest?!?

  3. SEND A SAVE THE DATE to scouts, churches, local businesses, book clubs, youth groups etc who would be interested in The Poverty Trap or Desperate Journeys for their groups.

  • We’ve secured a space (the Broadmead Centre) in Tunbridge Wells in the Autumn to stage some events! We’d love help to stage as many simulations as we can.

  • Can you develop for us a simulation to specifically address Child Soldiers and the their rehabilitation in Uganda for our 10 year anniversary? is exactly the idea we’re exploring following a meeting with Shirah Mansaray (who we met following the UCL Consultancy week) from the NGO ‘I am Somebody’s Child Soldier

  • T-Levels are the new alternative ‘A-Levels’! We’ll look to host 2 Business studies students next term (alongside our lovely Barbra & Krishna!)

This one is GOLD!

The secret exercise to happiness.

Meet someone who scored a perfect 100% on a happiness test and her one tip… it’s a daily exercise (first thing in the morning)!

What we are watching, listening, reading, attending…

As we further deepen our understanding of VR/360 being curated as an Empathy Exercise through mediums like google cardboard we hunt around for good content to use. Here’s one that we found. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) commissioned an VR App called The Right Choice to help empathy generating activities. The app is available on app stores.

Other reads, clips, podcasts, events, films from around the team

6 ways to help us…

  1. Volunteer - watch out for pop-up opportunities here in TN (more to come next term!) and we really need a bunch of regular helpers (eg a few hours or more(!) a week).

  2. Share the news! - please forward, share any social media posts. Ta!

  3. Spread the word! - we’d value an intro… to any potential vols, customers or even clients! Word of mouth is the best!

  4. Become an Empathy Angel - this year we are looking for 100 ‘Empathy Angels’ to help invest into us as we reboot empathy action to build a ‘Culture of Empathy’. Could you spare us the price of a cuppa (£2.50) a week… We can’t and don’t want to do this alone!

  5. Host a coffee morning with a table of our handicrafts to sell and invite interested people to learn more and enjoy a cuppa

  6. Via smile.amazon - link beneath to enable amazon to give money to EA

    Thank you!

I’m even more humbled today. With the help of God, we will touch lives and make a difference.

A lovely piece of news from Richard & Sue Watts

Paul, We are enjoying a wonderful week of teaching and worship with 3000 others at #kescon22. Surrounded by the wonder of God's creation we are enjoying world class teachers including Alastair Begg opening God's word to us. Boiling with others in a huge marquee on the hottest day of the year is the price we pay. The marquee certainly makes the EA tents seem small by comparison. Richard
